I've seen 5 blue jays at once at ours. As for the rats at night....maybe.

The birds eat a lot during the day, and we don't have squirrels very often in our yard. Our dog keeps them mostly on edge.

But chipmunks? Yup. they go right up and serve themselves, though they too seem to prefer the small ledge feeder vs the basket.
